Circle Time

Review – Start your preschool day with Circle Time and sing the “I Can Sit Down” song (Improvise your tune)

                                                there’s Thursday and there’s Friday and then there’s Saturday.
                                                Days of the week. (Clap hands 2 times).

This is a great time to review the days of the week, months of the year and the number of the day. Then check the weather and compare it to your weather dial.

Discussion: Flies

Today we are going to learn about the fly insect. Click here for a great website with a good amount of information about flies. You can pull out the information that you think would be good for your children to learn about flies.

Activity Description - Numbers: Counting Number 8

This week we are working on recognizing and understanding the number eight. Watch this video to gather some ideas on how to make and play this game so that you can work in the number 8 (and other numbers) with your children.

  • Physical: Children are working on their fine motor skills and strengthening the muscles in their hands when they are rolling the die and picking it up with their grasping fingers

Activity Description: Resurrection Eggs Day 4

This is a wonderful way to share with children what the Bible says about the death and resurrection of Jesus. You can also use a children’s Bible, books and pictures to help tell the story. I love how these eggs bring this amazing story to life, so let’s crack open an egg and learn about the Easter story together! If you’d like to make your own eggs here is the video on how to do that.

Art & Science

Activity Description - Science: Fly Swatters & Bubbles

Today we are going to focus on the science side while using fly swatters and bubbles. Click here for the video on how to make bubbles, however if you’d like to make an easier solution you can just use water and dawn soap. You will see some items that give you ideas on what to use as bubble wands. Since we are learning about flies I thought it would be fun to add fly swatters to the bubble fun. Have children dip them into the bubble solution and wave them around. Make sure to have your children help with making the bubbles so they can work on their fine motor skills and just have fun with the whole process.

Music and Movement: For fun, while you are playing with bubbles you can sing this song Bubble in the Air. Click here for the song.

  • Physical: Fine motor skills when children are holding the fly swatters, Large motor skills as children are using the fly swatters to hit the paper with

Activity Description - Numbers: Hopping

Not only is hopping great exercise they are also good for working on counting. Let’s hop together by counting to the number eight five. You can repeat and continue to count to the number eight or count to ten and add eight plus two together.

  • Physical: Children are working on their large motor skills when they are hopping
  • Cognitive: When children are counting they understanding the quantity of the number five and the value it has

Activity Description - Art: Bug Catcher

Today we are going to make bug catchers for art and turn it into a science activity as well. Click here for the video on how to make the bug catchers. After you make the bug catcher head outside to look for bugs to catch and observe. Let them go after a while so that they can live in their environment.

Today we are going to learn about grasshoppers by clicking on this link. You can pull out the information that you think would be good for your children to learn about grasshoppers.
