Going to the Zoo Day 3

To make this project you will need a cup (blue if you want it represent the sky), cotton balls (clouds), yarn, glue, tape and some scissors. There is a picture here for you to look at and get an idea of what you and the children are making. Turn the cup upside down and poke a hole big enough in the bottom of the cup for the yarn to go through. Tie a knot big enough at the top of the yarn so it will not slide through the cup. Children can use glue or a glue stick to put the cotton ball clouds on to the cup. The cotton balls will stick better if children pull them apart to make them thinner then glue them on. At the bottom you will notice a picture of Jesus taped to the string. I think the picture is neat but I love the idea of having children draw their own picture of Jesus. If you would like to have children draw a picture of Jesus make sure the paper you give them to draw on is small enough to fit inside the cup when pulled up. You can say, “Do you remember in the story when Jesus went up to heaven? You are going to draw a picture of Jesus and then bring him up into the sky and through the clouds to heaven.”  If you don’t want to have the children draw a picture of Jesus you could use the image from the cover of this lesson and make copies for the children to use.  You could cut Jesus out or have the children do it.
