Today we are going to learn about a few different kinds of animals you may find in the ocean. Here are a couple videos about sharks that your child may find interesting. Shark at an aquarium video. Here is another video on the Megalodon Shark. Here is a video on Sea Dragons. Crab and Muscle video. Here is a video that is all about seaweed at the beach.

Print out the Bible memory verse coloring sheet and have your children color the picture. Sit with your children while they are coloring and talk about what they see in the picture (see questions below if you’d like some ideas). Your discussion will lead into the story you have read together.
Questions to ask if you like:
- How many people do you see in this picture? (Four)
- Does it look like one of the people is an angel? (Yes)
- What is all around the men and the angel? (Fire)
- Why do you think there was an angel in the fire with the three men? (Accept all answers. Toto protect Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego)
- Is there anything else you would like to share about this picture? (Accept all answers)This is a perfect time to talk about the Bible and how to use it. You can show the children your Bible so they have a better understanding of what a book, chapter and verse are. You can say:
“The Bible is one big book made up of many smaller books. Each book has a name. Today we are learning a Bible verse in the book of Daniel. When you find Daniel in the new testament look for the number 3 at the top left or right of the page, this is the chapter. You will see Daniel. We are looking for verse 17, and those numbers are much smaller under the big 3.”
After looking at the Bible show them “Daniel 3:17” written out on their Memory Verse Coloring Sheet. To see and hear all of the Books that make up the Bible watch this fun, short video, The Books of the Bible, by Readeez!
After they are done coloring they can hang their Memory Verse Coloring Sheet up in a special place. Then when your child walks by the sheet they can work on memorizing the Bible verse.

For art today let’s make an ocean scene or ocean collage. Provide your children with with some construction paper, you can use blue if you’d like to represent the color of the ocean. You can even have your child do some paper tearing to add to their collage to make seaweed, animals or other items in the ocean. Lay out on the table small shells (you can purchase these from a craft store-or if you are by a beach you can go pick some up to use), colored sand or just regular sand, glue and have children draw their own sea animals. If your children are having a difficult time drawing a sea animal you can always purchase sea animal confetti, stickers or you can cut out some fish and they can glue those on and color them in. It’s okay if the children draw a bunch of scribbles for their sea animals as that is the way children start to draw. It may look like scribbles to us but to the children it looks like a shark or a fish or whatever they see. When they are finished with their ocean scene have them tell you about their picture by saying ‘can you tell me about your picture please?’ You can write down what they say and attach it to their art.
