When a child can draw something that resembles a person it tells you the child is aware of others around them and pays attention to detail.
Tips:
- Talk with the child about the different parts of a person. Have the child look in a mirror and talk about the head, eyes, nose and mouth. Talk about a body how many arms and legs you have. When child is drawing you can talk about what they saw in the mirror again.
- Encourage him or her to draw people. Point out the body parts the child has drawn and ask about any additions to his or her picture that you can’t identify.
- Talk with child about all the parts of the physical body and where they are located. This will help the child start to think about adding them when drawing pictures of people.
