Hi There!
I am so glad that you have submitted your child’s Kindergarten Readiness Evaluation (KRE) to me. Below you will find some thoughts and ideas I have to share with you on how we can help Cheyanne to improve.
It looks like Cheyanne needs to improve in the areas of recognizing numbers 1-10, counting to 10, recognizing 10 lowercase letters, shapes, name writing, catching and throwing a ball and balancing.
Let’s start with recognizing numbers 1-10 and counting to 10. The number song is a fun song to sing while Cheyanne is putting her clothes on, while you are driving in the car, or even when you are going on a walk. This song will work on counting to 10. Here are a few more videos to work with Cheyanne on counting: Counting with Ice Cream Cones and Clean Up Counting. Your child will be able to pick it up quickly and then counting to 10 will be a breeze. To work with Cheyanne on recognizing numbers 1-10 make sure to make it fun and play a few games to improve in this area. Here are a few videos of games you can make and then do with Cheyanne: Number Line Counting Game, Numbers Counting and Dice and Slap It. You can also use my number patterns to help as well! You will notice when you click on each of these patterns a video link is displayed (see purple box) as well as a lesson in the free Online Preschool (see green box). You can get ideas on how to use each pattern by watching the video and/or reading the lesson plan in the free Online Preschool.
Now let’s look at some way’s to working on recognizing lowercase letters. Here is a link to all of the letter videos I have. You may want to play a few of the games or do the entire letter food series. Make sure that when you are playing the games or doing the food series that you have your child say the sound of the letters and the name of each letter. Have them say the sounds 3 times in a row and then move on to the next letter. The game that I mentioned above where you look for different letters on signs and around town is a fun to play with recognizing upper and lower case letters. Here is a link to the letter patterns that I have.
Now let’s look at some activities that will help Cheyanne in the area of shapes. Click here to see my video on Shape Dancing. I will show you how to make and play this game. Click here for the Shape Family Activity where Cheyanne will be able to interact with me and learn all about shapes. Do You Know What Shape This Is? is a fun song to sing while learning about the shapes.
Here is a great link to some wonderful ideas on using scissors correctly and it will also be great for strengthening the muscles in your child’s hands for name writing. Click here for the Name Art video, click here for Q-tip Painting which will help to build the muscles in your child’s hands for name writing, this activity, Letters Number Shapes, will work on name writing and this last video How to Teach Name Writing will give you some ideas on how to go about helping Cheyanne with name writing.
Catching and throwing a ball is a fun skill to work on as well. Click on these tips for some fun ways to work on catching and throwing. Don’t forget to get in there with Cheyanne and work together on these large motor skills.
Another fun activity you can do together with Cheyanne is balancing! Click here for some ways to help Cheyanne work on this skill.
Cheyanne scored “Almost” in the areas of uses scissors correctly, shows self confidence, expresses emotions appropriately and keeps body/hands to themselves.
Click here to read these tips for activities you can do with your child to help in improving their use of scissors. These are some great tips to help build the muscles in Cheyanne’s hands and make it easier to hold and cut with the scissors. My Newspaper Cut Out video and Heart Cutting video are both fun way’s to use scissors.
Click here for some tips on building Cheyanne’s self confidence.
For Expresses Emotions Appropriately make sure you review the “Tip” from the KRE Evaluation Summary click here to review this tip and read about some way’s to help with this. The video If You’re Happy And You Know It is a great song to sing with children to identify that we all have emotions, but it is the way that we go about expressing them if it is appropriate or not.
It can be difficult for children to keep their body/hands to themselves because a lot of children learn is by touching. However, there are times when this is not appropriate. Read these tips and work on implementing them to help him learn about personal space of their own and of others.
I hope that you find these videos, tips and additional thoughts helpful.

Hi There!
I am so glad that you have submitted your child’s Kindergarten Readiness Evaluation (KRE) to me. Below you will find some thoughts and ideas I have to share with you on how we can help Phoenix to improve.
It looks like Phoenix needs to improve in the areas of recognizing numbers 1-10, counting to 10, shapes, letter sounds and hopping on one foot.
Let’s start with recognizing numbers and counting. The number song is a fun song to sing while Phoenix is putting his clothes on, while you are driving in the car, when you are going on a walk. This song will work on counting to 10. Here are a few more videos to work with Phoenix on counting: Counting with Ice Cream Cones click here and Clean Up Counting click here for the video. Your child will be able to pick it up quickly and then counting to 10 will be a breeze. To work with Phoenix on recognizing numbers 1-10 make sure to make it fun and play a few games to improve in this area. Here are a few videos of games you can make and then dio with Phoenix: Number Line Counting Game click here, Numbers Counting and Dice click here, Slap It click here.
Now let’s look at some activities that will help Phoenix in the area of shapes. Shape Dancing click here to see how to make and play this game. Click here for the Shape Family activity where Phoenix will be able to interact with me and learn all about shapes. Do You Know What Shape This Is? is a fun song to sing while learning about the shapes.
Try these tips to work on the sounds that the letters make. Here is another thought I have for you. When you are out and about, on a walk, in a car, in a store look at signs with letters on them. Ask your child what letter it is and what sound that letter makes. You can also say, “while we are out today we are going to look for the letter A” (or whatever letter you are working on). When your child sees that letter ask them to tell you the sound it makes and point to where it is.
Hopping is always a fun one to work on and it can be done pretty much anywhere.
Click on this link for some hopping tips to do with Phoenix. Click on this link to play a hopping game and click on this link for a fun hopping exercise. Make sure to take the time to hop with Phoenix and work on this fun large motor skill together.
It looks like Phoenix scored “Almost” in the areas of name writing and using scissors. correctly. Here are a few videos for how you can work with Phoenix on name writing and using scissor correctly.
