I thought it would be good to talk about the rules at school and give a tour of the school, classroom and playground. Even if you are at home you can still do this. Talking about the rules at school is a great time for children to learn about what is expected of them when they come to school time with you.
Here are some ideas:
Where/how you'd like them to sit when they come to Circle Time
Do you want them to raise their hand when they have something to say?
Keep their hands to themselves
Use kind words
Share with others
When you go into the school office introduce the people in the office, who they are, what their jobs are and that they are there to help you.
When you go to the playground talk about what is okay to do and what is not okay to do outside.
Pretty much anything that you’d like them to learn throughout the school year with you is a good idea to talk about at this time. Don’t give too much information as it may be very overwhelming for some children. If you’d like, you could print out some pictures of the places you are discussing and hold them up to talk about them. This will be easier for children to remember them.

Write your child’s name on a half sheet of paper in marker. Next, give your child the paper and glue. Have your child trace their name with the glue the best they can. Lastly, give your child different items to decorate their name. Some items you could use are: beads, pom poms, glitter, little rocks, etc. This can be a difficult task for some children to do, so make sure you give them as much time as they need. You can watch this name art video. If they do not do their entire name or each letter in their name that is just fine.
