Learn about the letter V with Miss Cullen and Gator. First, Miss Cullen and Gator are going to show the upper and lower case letter V. Then review the sound of the V. Next look at two kinds of food that start with the letter V: Vanilla Wafers and Vinegar . If you have these items at home you can try them with Miss Cullen and discuss what it feels like, tastes like, sounds like and smells like.
Remember, when trying the different foods, it has to go in your mouth but it doesn't have to stay there. But it is always good to try something new.

Today we are going to learn about Jesus choosing his disciples and that we are disciples of Jesus’ also. Below you will find the story that you can read to the children, then some questions to ask and a prayer at the end. For the prayer I have put in periods where you can pause to have the children repeat after you.
Story: Jesus Chooses His Disciples
Jesus began to tell people about God. He knew he had a lot of work to do, and he went to find some helpers. As Jesus was walking along the seashore, he saw some fishermen. Jesus called to them, “Come. Follow me. I will make you fishers of people.” Right away, they left their boats and followed Jesus. Their names were Peter, Andrew, James and John. Later, Jesus met a tax collector named Matthew. His job was to get the tax money from the people and give it to the king. Matthew quit his job to follow Jesus, too. Jesus chose some more people. Their names were Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, and another man named James. Thaddaeus, Simon and Judas joined them, too. Jesus now had twelve new followers. He called them his disciples. Jesus taught them about God’s love.
Questions:
1. What did Jesus say to the men he asked to follow him? Come follow me I will make you fishers of people.
2. Did the men stop what they were doing and follow him? Yes
3. How many disciples did Jesus have to follow him? 12
4. What did Jesus teach them? About God’s love
Prayer:
Dear God. Thank you for this day. Please help me. to follow after you. Please help me. to be kind and loving to others. I love you. Amen.

Read The Mitten by Jan Brett with your child. This is such a cute book that you should be able to find at the library if you do not have it at home or in your classroom. Jan Brett also has a greatwebsite where you can print out the animals in from the story for free. I have printed out these animals and attached a Popsicle stick to each one and used them as puppets. I have also passed them out to the children and when we come to that animal then they bring the animal up and put it in a basket. This is great for children to work on listening to the story and paying attention to the sequence of the story.
