Baby Jesus is Born
Luke 2; Matthew 1-2
A new leader named Caesar wanted to know how many people lived on his land, so he had everyone go to their hoemetowns to be counted. Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem and when they arrived the town was packed full with people. Every room was taken, and the only place left to rest was a stable filled with animals.
There, Joseph made a bed for Mary in the hay. Little did the world know that the most awesome, amazing, and almighty part of God's plan was beginning. While they were there, baby Jesus was born. In the stillness of the night He came, God's gift of Christmas, the One who would save the world.
Mary and Joseph named the baby Jesus, just like the angel told them to do. Mary wrapped her baby in soft cloths to keep Him warm. Then she laid Him in the manger that was the feeding trough where the animals would eat their food from. God gave the world hope through a tiny baby lying in a manger.
In the fields near Bethlehem, shepherds were guarding their sheep. Suddenly, a bright light flashed in the sky. And many, many angels appeared, singing praises to God. A glowing angel said, "Don't be afraid! I bring you good news, which will make everyone happy. This very day a Savior has been born. He is Christ the Lord. You will know who he is, because you will find Him dressed in cloths and lying on a bed of hay in a manger."
As the shepherds hurried off to Bethlehem to find Jesus, they were excitedd to see the Son of God. They went out and spread the word about what the angel had told them. He's here, He's here, God sent His son to save the world.
Bible Story Questions & Answers
Talk about what the Bible story was about by asking the children questions. You can decide ahead of time how you want them to answer the questions. I like to have the children raise their hand to answer the question. If they are incorrect that is fine. You can say what the answer is or ask: “Does anyone else have a thought or answer to the question?”
