Pull out some bubble wands and make some bubbles to do this activity with Miss Cullen or you can watch the video having your child answer the questions that Miss Cullen asks along the way. Look at the letter that the bubbles make. Can you see a bunch of O’s flying around? Make sure you have the children say the sound of the letter Oo as they fly them around.
Music and Movement: Bubbles in the Air.

Thank you Ministry to Children for providing such wonderful content.
Show a package of seeds. Ask (leaving time for answers): What are these? (Put a few in each child’s hand so that they can feel and look at them.) What do seeds need to grow? (Water, sun, good soil) Soil is very important for seeds to grow (hold up a bag of soil and show them what it looks like. Allow them to feel it as well. Have paper towels ready in case it sticks to their hands.) If a seed is not planted in good soil, it cannot grow.
Story:
A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path (show picture), and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places (show picture), where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns (show picture), which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil (show picture). It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times! Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear. (NIV)
Meaning of the Story:
The seed is the Word of God. Some people are like the path. As soon as they hear the Word of God, Satan comes and takes it away like the bird took away the seeds in the parable. Others are like the seed sown on the rocky places. They hear the Word and believe it with joy. But they have no root, and when trouble comes their way because of the Word, they quickly fall away from it, just like the sun scorched the plants of the seeds in the parable. Still others are like the seed sown among the thorns. They hear the Word and believe it, but the worries of life and the desire for money and other things choke the Word, making it unfruitful, meaning it cannot grow. Others are like the seed sown on good soil. They hear the Word, believe it, and produce a crop or fruit, some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown (point to the picture of the crops)!
Extra Content: If you’d like, you can plant some of the seeds. The seeds you purchased for the children to look at during the story would be great for the children to plant. You can plant them in cup, in a pot or in the ground. You will need soil, a shovel, water, seeds and the place you will plant the seeds.

After watching the Jack and the Beanstalk story it is time to draw a picture of what they have seen and heard. Place white paper on the table with crayons and markers and bottles of glue. Also have out 5 green beans per children. Have the children count out 5 beans. Then have the children draw a picture of the story and glue on the beans wherever they think they should go. While the children start drawing you may need to talk about the story a little just to refresh their memory. They can draw whatever they would like to.
Extra Content: Provide the children with beans. Label cups with the numbers 1 – 10 or 1 – 20. Have the children help you count the beans to put into the cups. Which has the most beans? Or the least?
